Improving Critical Thinking Ability and Self-Confidence Attitude of Students in Angle Measurement Material by Using Arias Learning Model in Fourth Class at SDN 2 Karangsentul

Abstract


Critical thinking ability and low self-confidence attitude of students is the reason for the background of this research. To improve students' critical thinking ability and self-confidence attitude in angle measurement material, the researcher applied the ARIAS learning model. This research is a classroom action research, and the subject of this research is fourth b class of SD Negeri 2 Karangsentul in Padamara, Purbalingga, that consist of 21 students, 9 male and 12 female. The technique of data collection which was used in this research is a written test in the form of an evaluation sheet and self-confidence attitude using non tests in the form of observation sheet and questionnaire. The technique of data collection using tests in the form of written questions and non-tests in the
form of observation, questionnaire and documentation. The results showed that: (1) the percentage of completeness of critical thinking ability of students increase from the percentage of the first cycle 35% with less criteria to the second cycle percentage 78% with good criteria. There is an increase in critical thinking ability in
the amount of 43%. (2) the percentage of students' self-confidence attitude has increased from 46% with enough criteria to the second cycle percentage of 75% with good criteria. There is an increase in self-confidence in the amount of 29%. Based on the result of the calculation it can be concluded that ARIAS learning model can improve students' critical thinking ability and self-confidence attitude in angle measurement material in fourth b class of SD Negeri 2 Karangsentul.
